COBIT® vs. ITIL® Why Can't It be Both?

Executive Seminar Series

It is well understood that IT best practices should be integrated with one another and with internal procedures and that these all need to be aligned to business requirements.

At their highest level, COBIT® can be described as "what IT needs to do" and ITIL® can be described as "how IT can deliver" some of these elements.

COBIT® can be used as the IT governance tool that provides an overall governance and control framework based on an IT process model.

Specific practices and frameworks such as ITIL® that cover specific areas for IT can be mapped to the COBIT® framework.

Strategies for effective navigation between these two frameworks for maximizing IT benefit will be the focus of this 90 minute session.

Session Overview:

This presentation discusses how CobiT® and ITIL® compliment each other and describe how these frameworks can be leveraged effectively to become key ingredients in your IT department's "recipe for success".   Topics covered will include:

  • A tale of two key acronyms:  ITIL® & CobiT® defined
  • What is IT Governance and why is it important?
  • ITIL®vs. CobiT® : Practical discussion on how leveraging both can make IT stronger
